FENRA’s ‘DEEPCUT’ Lands with Subtle Drive, Signaling Delusional EP Arrival

Portland’s FENRA, the alias of B Laws, rolled out his sophomore single ‘DEEPCUT’ via 6x Records on November 7, 2025, capping off a buildup to his debut EP Delusional, which follows suit three weeks later on the 28th of November. Raised in Santa Rosa, California, amid a backdrop of creative inspiration, FENRA caught the harmony bug early through the church hymns his grandmother shared. By 14, he was self-teaching guitar, then layering synths, vocals, and percussion in bands that logged miles across the US, Europe, and Asia. His current output pulls from the likes of Caribou, Four Tet, Floating Points, Bonobo, and DJ Koze, tempered by Philip Glass‘s precision and Gloria Ann Taylor‘s soulful edge. This release picks up from ‘COFFEE’‘s ambient glow, which landed on Magnetic Magazine, with the full EP getting a final touch from mastering engineer Aneek Thapar—credits heavy with Rival Consoles and Max Cooper work.

‘DEEPCUT’ starts sparse, a bent synth line weaving through faint string lines and diffused ambient layers, as off-kilter percussion settles into a loose pocket. Those elements draw out the space before a taut bass formation emerges past the midpoint, meshing propulsion with atmospherics in a way that defines his electronic leanings—patient, textured, and immersive without excess.

FENRA revealed: “‘DEEPCUT’ opens with a skewed synth melody over strings and atmospheric textures, building tension slowly before revealing its full shape. It’s one of the most energetic tracks on the EP, but I wanted it to take its time — the bassline doesn’t arrive until almost three minutes in, when the track finally locks into place.”
