With the announcement of a new album, entitled Over The HorizonCafé del Mar-featured band Kinobe have released the first single, ‘Falling Star’, from the LP. Like the song, the video has a vintage feel. The snippets therein were likely captured on film, though this is only speculation. But it doesn’t much matter. What does, however, is the sense Kinobe has brought life to a different era, where mariners walk about the busy streets of a thriving city. In hushed tones – earthy browns, faded reds, taxi-cab yellows – the reel turns over, revealing a cosmopolitan heyday.

When asked to talk about the single, Kinobe said this: “When I wrote this song I was imagining what might be playing on the jukebox while J.J. Cale, John Barry, and Percy Faith play poker in the bar of a formerly-splendid-but-now-run-down hotel somewhere down a forgotten desert highway as the colours of the sunset revive its faded glory.”

Look out for their album, which will be released on the 4th of August 2023. In the meantime, you can watch the video for ‘Falling Star’ below. Single out today via SGKL.
