World-renowned producer Robert Koch has unveiled a remix of EMMI IIDA’s single, ‘Blooming’ which was released on 2 August via EFG Records. The original track was written by EMMI IIDA and co-written and produced by Jessica Sharman. Born in Berlin, and based in Los Angeles, Robot Koch is a Platinum and Gold accredited producer. He has remixed the likes of Max Richter, Rammstein, and Christian Löffler. He has also collaborated with conductor and Grammy Award Nominee Kristjan Järvi, along with the Nordic Pulse Orchestra.
EMMI IIDA is a Finnish visual artist, holistic interior architect and musician. Her debut album The Eye released early 2024, and received support from the likes of Wonderland Magazine, Notion Magazine, METAL Magazine, and CLASH Magazine.
‘Blooming’ sees EMMI sing about following one’s intuition. It begins as a bright atmospheric, ambient track, which builds up to EMMI IIDA’s soft spoken-word vocals, guiding the listener on a meditative journey, before she breaks into her ethereal singing voice. In the remix, Robot Koch holds onto EMMI’s vocal line, modulating the sound of her voice with subtle trippy effects and filters over a captivating synth instrumental. His reimagining of the track is enthralling and soothing, showcasing his mastery as a producer.
Robert Koch shared: “I enjoyed making this remix for Emmi. I only used the vocals from the original track, I felt like they needed a lot of space around them. So I went for an introspective, atmospheric, and stripped-down composition, based on the feeling the words evoked in me.”
