Sheffield-based record label and shop Black Beacon Sound has welcomed six independent musicians and producers affiliated with its past catalogue of releases, live events, radio, and local networks, celebrating cutting edge music and independent culture, in order to raise awareness of and funds for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders). Specifically, this release will donate 100% of all proceeds in support of the emergency operations in Gaza and the West Bank. The collection will be released as an EP titled on the 26th of April, 2024. The first track off the EP is an offering from UK musician and producer Fourclef, titled ‘Slither’.
Fourclef recently relocated to Glasgow from his time with Melodic Distraction radio in Liverpool. Fourclef curiously explores soundscape, jazz, and dance-led combinations of percussion, melody, and atmosphere. He boasts a self-released back catalogue, and an exciting release on Lambs-ear.
‘Slither’ kicks the compilation off with an enthralling and emotive backbeat, twinkling synths dancing around the stereo image, and ethereal vocal lines transporting the listener to a faraway world. The track is full of driving, pulsing textures; a potent offering for a profound cause. ‘Slither’ sets a high bar for the rest of the compilation, which soars above and beyond it with ease, promising the listener six tracks of magical electronic dance music.
