Like tightly knotted shoelaces, some things in life cannot be undone. Other things are more easily loosened or reverted back to their original state. To this end, Norwegian music maker Julia Gjertsen has explored the theme of “undoing” through a neo-classical and ambient hybrid record aptly titled ‘Undo’

“I dedicated a lot of time to refining and experimenting with the track, exploring the relationship between different sounds and textures. The concept of ‘undoing’ and starting anew was particularly appealing to me, and I believe that is what this track is trying to reflect,” Julia said when asked to provide insight into the track.

Pushing and pulling, delayed piano notes tug at one another in an effort to separate, but only succeed at entangling themselves deeper. Beginning carefully, the notes seem to grow impatient, anxious and ever more frustrated as they fail to divide. Then, in a sudden big bang, they explode outward in a cascade of colour and dancing light.
